Fall Delights

This is Tricyrtis Hirta, also known as Toad Lily. They are mostly Asian and provide interest in the semi-woodland perennial garden during the Fall.  This beauty is blooming at the bus entrance.

This South African Mint causes heads to turn in October here at Mohonk Mountain House. The flowers form in tiers and the buds are as intriguing as the open blooms. This plant is not winter hardy, but is easy enough to overwinter in a cool greenhouse. The sun looks terribly bright here, doesn't it?

Boy, this new Hydrangea paniculata 'Vanilla Strawberry' really does mature to a nice "smoothie" color. Our plants are young but already throw lots of large heads. This plant is destined for greatness.
